It's worth noting that FS isn't an official abbreviation and we will, going forward continue to announce MSFS as the abbreviation that we will use for this new sim (following suit with many other websites and partners).

Exciting isn't it! The new sim was officially released on August 18th, and already there are freeware releases created and developed by enthusiasts, hobbyists, and members of the flight sim community who have adopted this new sim.
Unfortunately, while many users were hoping and expecting that those previous mods available for FSX would work with this version - they won't - at least not without a great deal of modification and porting over to the new platform.
Having said that, it can be done and many freeware developers are already working on porting their existing FSX releases over to the new platform using various tools. The new file structure and configuration files are very similar to the legacy platform (FSX/FS etc) and Microsoft has tried their harde
